Year 9 Girls Begin Defence of National Handball Title
The year 9 girls handball team began their defence of their national title in the borough round of the competition. The tournament was held at Jo Richardson School on Wednesday 4th February. The victorious team from last year was reunited and the result was no different. The first game against Barking Abbey was the closest encounter. Barking Abbey brought with them their very own national champions in the shape of their year 10 basketball team but this did not phase Riverside and the girls ran out 6-4 winners. The second game against Jo Richardson proved to be slightly more comfortable with the girls winning 10-0. They rounded off the tournament with a 8-1 against Warren. The girls really showed why they were national champions with excellent team play and commitment from all players throughout the competition. As a result of winning the competition, Riverside will now represent Barking and Dagenham in the East London round of the national competition. Good luck girls!!
